64 years ago, Hiroshima suffered the world's first atomic bombing. To prevent
repetition of such tragedy, the city has sought ever since to covey the
facts of the bombing to the world. We have engaged in a wide variety of
efforts for peace and now seek to build a 21st century of peace and humanity
free from nuclear weapons.

The World Conference of Mayors for Peace is launching an emergency 4-step campaign to ban nuclear weapons in 2005 and eliminate all such weapons by 2020.
To communicate the A-bomb experience to future generations at an academic level, we feel the need to establish and popularize Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Courses at colleges and universities around the world. To that end, we are studying course content, course materials, and issues and problems related to popularizing these courses.
